This installation kit includes:
Amplifier bypass cable (20-307)
Allows a new aftermarket radio to be connected directly to the car's speakers after bypassing the original amplifier. The original amplifier in the car has fiber optic connections from the head unit. When the head unit is replaced it will be necessary to bypass the fiber optic and ignore the original amplifier. This cable is designed to be used in conjunction with a steering wheel control interface and a parking sensor retention interface.
When the amplifier is bypassed, the original subwoofer will NO LONGER function. Additional wires are provided on this cable to allow for the installation of an aftermarket amplifier to drive the subwoofer.
Antenna connection and extension (21-148)
This cable converts the car radio's existing antenna plug on the roof at the back of the car to the DIN type used by most car radio manufacturers.
On some Volvo XC90 models there is no antenna connection behind the radio, it is located in the roof at the very back of the car. If this is the case you will need to remove the rear roof trim and locate the car's antenna system and run an antenna adapter extension cable (21-148) along the left side of the roof trim. If your Volvo XC90 already has an antenna connection behind the car radio this part is not needed.
NOTE: Cars in the USA do not have the antenna connection in the roof. On these cars you will need to install a new antenna.
CAN bus connection (23-223)
This cable makes it possible to keep the CANbus system active in a Volvo XC90 when installing an aftermarket head unit. The link cable has a dedicated connector that allows you to connect up to two CAN interface units to a Volvo XC90 vehicle.
Rear parking audio interface (25-514-VOLVO)
CANbus interface to retain the original parking distance control (PDC) tones and other warning signals that are lost when replacing the radio in Volvo XC90 cars.
The original parking sounds and warning signals in many cars are produced by the original radio and when an aftermarket radio is installed these tones disappear. This CANbus interface reads the data in the car and recreates the parking sounds and warning signals through an additional speaker. The interface has a universal adapter cable that needs to be fitted to the car's power, ground and CANbus cables. Installation instructions are included.
NOTE: This installation kit only retains the rear parking sensor tones, the front parking sensors cannot be retained.
Steering wheel control interface for audio (39-VOL-UNI)
This interface uses loose wire connections behind the original radio to allow the use of the original steering wheel control buttons with a new aftermarket head unit. It also provides CANbus outputs as well as ignition, speed pulse, reverse, handbrake and lighting signals to the new stereo. Includes telephone functions for compatible devices. This interface comes with a universal patch cable that can be used with Alpine, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, Sony or Zenec head units.
Double DIN panel and box kit (50-860)
Replacement panel for the car's head unit to be able to replace the original radio with a Double-DIN aftermarket version.
Includes cage kit so the aftermarket cage that comes with the new radio is not needed.
COLOR: MATTE BLACK
This kit works for cars between 2002 and 2004, but does not retain the original parking sensors. We do not yet have a solution to retain the parking sensors on the earlier models.
