Installation and Connection Questions

How do you install a car stereo?

Step 1

Make sure you have the right stereo for your car model and that you have all the necessary tools on hand, such as screwdrivers, electrical tape, and possibly an installation kit .

If there is no installation kit for your car model, you may need to purchase the following parts separately:

Step 2

Before starting the assembly, make sure the car is turned off to avoid electrical problems or short circuits.

Step 3

Use a screwdriver, fish bone or radio keys to remove the old stereo. Please note that the removal process may vary depending on the car model and year.

Step 4

Connect the cables from the new stereo to the car's original connector (if available). It may be helpful to use the included ISO wiring harness, i.e. the wiring harness that comes with the stereo. If a microphone is included, connect this as well according to the manufacturer's instructions. For most car models, it is also necessary to use a model-specific ISO wiring harness or Steering Wheel Interface . These wiring harnesses can be purchased separately or included in an installation kit. If your vehicle is equipped with a factory-fitted amplifier, an Active System Adapter may be required.

NOTE: We do not recommend cutting or splicing the vehicle's original connectors. If this is required, seek the assistance of a professional automotive electrician to ensure a correct and safe installation. Cutting or splicing original connectors may result in electrical problems or damage to the vehicle's electrical system.

Step 5

Before mounting the stereo in place, be sure to test it to ensure it is working properly.

Step 6

Once you have tested the stereo to ensure it is working properly, it is time to install it. If your car model requires a mounting frame, use the instructions that come with the mounting frame to ensure proper installation. Make sure the connection cables and any associated components are properly connected and properly secured. Make sure the stereo is stable and secure to avoid damage or movement while driving.

How do I install speakers?

Step 1

Before you start the installation, it is important to ensure which Speakers can be installed in your vehicle. To choose the right size of the speakers, it is important that you base your choice on the dimensions of the existing speakers or the manufacturer's instructions for the speaker rings. Also check the speaker impedance (ohms) and possibly which Speaker Rings and Speaker Adapter are needed for the installation.

NOTE: If speaker rings are not available for your car model, you may need to measure the space where the speakers will be mounted and select speakers that fit within these dimensions. We recommend measuring the space with the side window down and taking into account that the door mechanics may limit the depth of the speaker.

Step 2

Once you have ensured the above, it is time to choose Speakers. We encourage you to read about and compare different speakers to find the one that suits you best. Using the filtering function on the product page, you can easily find speakers that suit your specific needs and preferences.

If you need help finding the right speakers for your car, you are welcome to book an appointment for a personal consultation.

Step 3

Make sure you have all the necessary tools and mounting hardware before you begin the installation. To install the new speakers, you must first remove the door panels or panels where the existing speakers are located. Then, connect the speakers to the speaker cables using cable lugs or a Speaker Adapter . Test the speaker to ensure that it is working properly. Once you have tested it and everything is working properly, follow the instructions for the speaker rings and mount the speaker accordingly. We recommend that you use Damping Material during installation for a complete sound upgrade.

NOTE: The removal and installation process may vary depending on your specific car model and year. There is no universal method that applies to all vehicles, so be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific car model.

How do I install a subwoofer?

Step 1

Determine which head unit you have in your vehicle and the available space, this will determine both the type of subwoofer you choose and how you can connect it. If you are connecting a subwoofer to a car with an original stereo, use a High to Low level converter (preferably with remote start). If you have an aftermarket stereo, you can use the low level output on the stereo if it is equipped with one. Once you have determined which head unit you have in your car and the available space, move on to the next step.

Step 2

To choose the right type of bass and how to connect it. Choose between an Active Subwoofer or Passive Subwoofer depending on your preferences and needs. If you choose a Passive Subwoofer, you need to supplement with a Power Amplifier . If you choose an Active Subwoofer, the power amplifier is built in. We recommend a High to Low level converter with remote start if the power amplifier does not have a high level input with remote start. For the installation, you will also need a Cable Kit that contains power, ground, remote & RCA cable. In addition to the wiring, cable lugs, cable ties, a fuse & a fuse holder are also included. These parts can be purchased separately but are cheaper to buy in a kit.

NOTE: Cable kit contents may vary by product. Please refer to product descriptions for complete information on what is included.

Step 3

Once you have determined which head unit you have in your vehicle and the available space, and selected your subwoofer and mounting accessories, begin the installation. Connect the power cable to the positive terminal of the battery and the ground cable to the chassis or a ground point in the car to ensure a stable power supply to the subwoofer. If you have an aftermarket stereo, connect the remote cable to the dedicated remote cable in the ISO harness. If you do not have an aftermarket stereo, the remote cable should be connected to the high to low level converter. It is important to connect the high to low level converter on the speaker cables that have an unfiltered signal. This ensures that the subwoofer receives a correct and clean audio signal for the best performance and sound quality. Connect the RCA cables to the corresponding RCA jacks on the head unit or high to low level converter to transfer the audio signal to the subwoofer.

If you are unsure about the installation or would like professional help with the assembly, you are welcome to book an installation appointment with us.

Step 4

Check that the connection is correct, test and adjust the bass according to your preferences. We suggest a recording time of between 20-40 hours to soften the bass element, after which you can gradually increase the sound level. If you play too loud with a new bass cabinet, you risk blowing the bass element & then the warranty will not apply.

Questions about Products and Terms

What is a Singleton?

The single dimension measures 50 mm in height and 180 mm in width.

DIN, or Deutsche Industrie-Normen, was founded in 1917 as the "Normenausschuss der deutschen Industrie" (NADI) to set standards for German industry.

Today, this standard is used as a measurement for car stereos all over the world.

What is a Double Din?

Double-din dimensions measure 100 mm in height and 180 mm in width, which is twice as high as the single-din dimension.

DIN, or Deutsche Industrie-Normen, was founded in 1917 as the "Normenausschuss der deutschen Industrie" (NADI) to set standards for German industry.

Today, this standard is used as a measurement for car stereos all over the world.

What does AWG mean?

AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge" and is a standard for measuring the thickness of electrical wires. In automotive applications, AWG is used to measure the thickness of cables and wires used in various electrical systems, such as audio systems, lighting, and power supplies. The AWG number indicates the relative thickness of the wire, with smaller numbers meaning thicker wires and vice versa. It is important to choose the correct AWG size to ensure adequate power delivery and avoid overheating or overloading.

Here is a list of the most common AWG gauges and their corresponding thickness in square millimeters:

  • AWG 0 - 53.48 mm²
  • AWG 1 - 42.41 mm²
  • AWG 2 - 33.61 mm²
  • AWG 3 - 26.67 mm²
  • AWG 4 - 21.15 mm²
  • AWG 5 - 16.77 mm²
  • AWG 6 - 13.30 mm²
  • AWG 7 - 10.55 mm²
  • AWG 8 - 8.36 mm²
  • AWG 9 - 6.63 mm²
  • AWG 10 - 5.26 mm²

What is the difference between an Active and Passive Subwoofer?

Active subwoofer

An Active Subwoofer has a built-in power amplifier that drives the woofer, making it independent of an external power amplifier .

Passive Subwoofer

A Passive Subwoofer needs an external power amplifier to drive the woofer because it does not have a built-in power amplifier .

What is a Final Step?

A power amplifier, also known as an amplifier, is an electronic device that increases the power of the audio signal to drive speaker elements.

The amplifier takes a weaker audio signal from a source, such as a car stereo, and amplifies it to a level that is powerful enough to drive speaker elements.

This allows users to get higher sound pressure and experience better sound quality in their audio system.

Power amplifiers come in different numbers of channels to match the number of speakers to be driven. Here is a list of the most common options.

  • Mono/Monoblock (1-channel)
  • Two-channel (2-channel)
  • Four-channel (4-channel)
  • Five-channel (5-channel)
  • Six-channel (6-channel)
  • Eight-channel (8-channel)
  • Twelve-channel (12-channel)
